GPEX Mineral Property Portfolio
HOZAMEEN SERPENTINE BELT
GPEX’s “Hozameen Serpentine Belt Suite” consists of two mineral properties, the “Ghost Valley,” a ten cell property comprising 210.68 hectares, and the “Serpentine Junction” claim, a four cell tenure comprising 84.16 hectares. Both claims are cut by the Hozameen Fault, of which comprises ultrmaphic rocks. The properties are located approximately 20 kilometres east-southeast of Hope. Access in best gained via Sowaqua Creek FSR, commencing from the Sowaqua Creek Exit on BC Highway 5, the Coquihalla Highway.
The Hozameen Fault, a northwest trending gold-bearing serpentine structure, which ranges from the Boston Bar area in the north to well into Washington State, south of the International Border, traverses through the claim areas. The gold producing Carolin and Emancipation Mines, are located along this structure, yet, to the north of BC Highway 5. Though there has not been actual mine development to the south of said highway, there has been a considerable amount of exploration in the past. In addition to the hardrock precious-metal potential, there has been both gold and platinum nuggets found within Ghost Creek, and there exits high potential for marketing slabbed serpentine for the masonry and interior decoration industries.
The Coquihalla Serpentine Belt forms a narrow, elongate, north- northwest trending steeply dipping unit separating supracrustal rocks of the Ladner Group to the east, from the Hozameen Complex in the west. Dark, highly sheared to massive serpentinite of probable peridotite parentage, characterizes the belt. The western contact is represented by a major fracture which appears to dip steeply east. This is termed the "West" Hozameen fault and the serpentinites in this vicinity contain highly sheared talcose rocks. The serpentinite has a complex association with diorite intrusions which occur as dike-like bodies within the ultramafics.
Minfile Summary Reports, Numbers 092HSW145 (Big Range), 092HSW146 (Timberline), 092HSW152 (New Jay) and 092HSW043 (Master Ace), describe the area’s geology and the prospects. However, the varied Reports by former operators, in particular, those of JT Shearer, offer the most thorough description of the geology along the Hozameen Fault.
